Webster's Dictionary defines counseling as, "an opinion suggesting a wise and proper course of action" or "the duty or function of watching or guarding for the sake of proper direction" and finally, "training that corrects, molds or perfects the mental faculties or moral character."
In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 we are told, "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Counseling is simply the function of teaching individuals the wise and proper course of action necessary to follow God's direction by guiding them to walk victoriously through the corrective molding of God-breathed scriptures being applied to their daily lives. |
